Bodrum, according to our customers, is the centre of youth tourism and nightlife in Turkey. It attracts lovers of diving, surfing and loud evening entertainment. There are as many nightclubs, discos and restaurants as there are in Side, Belek and Marmaris combined.
The population of the city is about 130 thousand, in the high season increases by 5 times. Almost all local residents are involved in tourism and trade.
The municipality is geographically located in the province of Mugla and occupies the southwestern coast of the Turkish peninsula at the junction of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. From the Greek island of Kos, it is separated by 28 km of the sea.
A daily ferry boat departs from Bodrum, and you can diversify your leisure time by visiting a neighbouring country. Travel time takes 45-50 minutes, and tickets cost € 25 to € 50 depending on the season.
The nearest airport is Milas, 35 km from the city.
Havas buses run from Milas to the city centre, which makes stops on demand near the hotel and residential complexes. The fare for public transport is 15 TRY (€ 2), and travel time takes 30-35 minutes. You can take a taxi in just 15 minutes, but you will have to pay 140 TRY (€ 20).
Bodrum is located on the site of the ancient city of Halicarnassus, which was founded by Greek immigrants in the VIII century BC. But all the buildings of that time were destroyed in the XV century caused by an earthquake.
The city consists of 2 parts. Eastern areas attract beachgoers and lovers of nightclubs while the western part of the city attracts surfers, divers, yachtsmen.
The district includes several villages:
Turgutreis is located 20 km from Bodrum. This beach resort attracts lovers of water sports. Twelve small islands in the sea opposite the Kadikale beach form a rare zone on the Turkish coast for diving and boat trips. On the seabed are still found fragments of ancient amphorae, wreckage fragments and other artefacts of the II-I centuries BC.
Turgutreis Marina can receive 500 yachts around its piers. Every year in October, a Mediterranean sailing regatta starts from the local port, and then the cost of renting housing in the village rises by 20-30%.
This is explained simply: yacht rental is estimated at an average of € 2,500-3,000 per week, and the main holidaymakers in Turgutreis are the families of wealthy yachtsmen. Therefore, apartment prices are the highest in this district, because real estate owners receive the most significant income from renting it out.
Ortakent is located 5 km west of Bodrum, in Bitez Bay. This is the only district of the municipality suitable for families with children. There are no nightly entertainment facilities and noisy restaurants, but there are a lot of tangerine and olive groves. This resort is chosen by those who love beautiful landscapes and peaceful surrounding.
The local Yahsi beach has a Blue Flag certificate and is the cleanest in the area. Those who are seeking complete solitude, visit Kargi Bay in the western part of Ortakent. The beach in the bay is rocky, and at the bottom, there are many large boulders. It's recommendable to buy water shoes before visiting this place.
Inexpensive apartments in residential complexes of this village find the most interest among married couples who buy or rent for an extended stay with children. The cost of renting in “2 + 1” apartment from May to September ranges from € 300 to € 500 per week.
Golturkbuku is the youngest resort of the municipality, located 15 km from Bodrum. It was formed in the year 2000 after the unification of two fishing villages (Golkoy and Turkbuku). Therefore, secondary market real estate here is rarely offered for sale; almost all hotels and guest houses are new. In addition, it is the “greenest” resort in the region: cutting down old trees is prohibited; therefore, houses are surrounded by palm trees and centuries-old pine trees.
There is a pebble beach with an uncomfortable steep entrance to the sea and constant waves. A pine forest borders the narrow strip of the beach, so even in July, is not too hot. The resort is not suitable for children and divers, but surfers love it because from the sea from May to the end of September there is a constant breeze.
The route to the village runs far from the coast, and the infrastructure has not yet been fully formed. But judging from the interest in Golturkbuku by US citizens, who have been choosing this resort from among all the other cities, shows great promise.
Celebrities from Hollywood rent expensive villas built near Mandalya Bay. Middle-class tourists prefer to stay in comfortable apartments on 1-2 coastlines where you can rent apartments no more than € 100 per day.
Gumusluk - the farthest village of Bodrum, located 30 km from the city centre. Here are the ruins of the ancient city of Mindos, which are recognized as the architectural and cultural heritage of Turkey, so multi-storey buildings and any major construction in are prohibited by law. Excavations in the village continue, historians and archaeologists rent housing for a long time.
Despite this, an excellent touristic infrastructure has been created in this area with hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and the local beach is considered the best in the district. A local attraction is the Rabbit Island, to which you can get wading across the shallow sea.
In this area, our customers select apartments for permanent residence. They are attracted by the lack of noisy streets and traffic jams. Gumusluk combines an easy lifestyle and high-quality services.
Bitez is 7 km from the centre of Bodrum, elderly holidaymakers from Eastern Europe choose this area. There are no entertainment sites and large stores, but there are many family pastry shops and cosy cafes.
The beach is sandy but not wide, equipped with basketball and tennis courts. Entrance to the sea is steep, and there are a lot of large stones on the seabed.
Bitez is a much cheaper place than Turgutreis or Gumusluk. Services prices and many inexpensive guesthouses (small family hotels) by the beach.
The area is chosen by buyers who are accustomed to comfort and economy. Budget housing options for rent are in demand. Studio apartments and "1 + 1" cost € 20-30 per day.
Yalikavak, Located 18 km from Bodrum centre is beloved by Turkish citizens as the best resort on the Aegean coast, and local people prefer to relax here.
The patriarchal traditions of Muslim - Turkey and European infrastructure intertwined in architecture and culture of this place. Narrow streets of the village will appeal to those who appreciate silence and coolness.
Here you can buy luxury real estate: duplexes, villas, townhouses. A villa on the second line with four bedrooms and a pool is offered for rent for € 3,200 per week, a duplex with an outdoor terrace and a sauna - for € 160-190 per day. Townhouses are rented for long term use at a price of € 4,000 per month.
There are many shops of Turkish brands: LC Waikiki, Colin’s, DeFacto, Faik Sönmez, Mavi Jeans. Shopping is an additional attraction to the traditional relax on the seashore and Turkish cuisine.
If you choose Yalykavak, we recommend the purchase of a three-bedroom apartment for rent, because Turkish families choose spacious holiday apartments, so it makes it easier to rent.
